You may have seen signs on the road or in a car park reading ‘ANPR in use’ - but what does it mean and why are we increasingly using the technology?

ANPR stands for Automatic Number Plate Recognition. It's a technology that reads vehicle registration plates to create location data. Timed photographs from cameras at the entrance and exit of a car park give an accurate recording of how long a vehicle has used the facilities. This information is captured by scanners or cameras then cross-referenced for a range of car park management and enforcement purposes.

How much will a ANPR system cost?

Pending a site survey, the equipment, groundwork, set up and signage will be installed and carried out by Ocean Parking, with zero cost to you. For us to do this, we recoup our costs from PCN payments made by unauthorised users, effectively reducing abuse on your site over time.

We have a complex set up with permit holders and customers needing to pay for parking. How could you manage this?

Well, we have many options, of which all can be tailored to your specific needs. For example, permit holders could be entered onto a permitted list and marked as exempt from enforcement, providing they are adhering to all the other site rules. Paying customers could pay by foot, by phone or via an app.

Are Ocean Parking a new company?

We are a newly branded company! We have actually been around since 2013 but have recently rebranded to align more with our parent company - who have been on the security service scene since the 80’s. You’re in safe hands with us!
